Dear wearer of hearts on sleeves,
This is my random act for today.
From your post on Doug Coupland's facebook page and the few things I can glean from this website, I've created an image of your personhood in my mind - what, you could say, the You of you looks like in the head of someone who's never met (nor likely to meet) you.
I've picked up a few Souvenirs of Coupland myself over the years. From intimate readings to shot-in-the-dark emails that he actually responded to I've learned that nobody is who you think they are.
Thinking someone into existence is a losing proposition if you're looking for validation. He's a great writer and a better sculptor but he doesn't, nor could he ever, live up to the persona you've invented for him. I'm not accusing you of being starry-eyed (I can't suffer hypocrisy); just musing about the irony of one writer writing another.
I want to say congratulations on getting published: you have no one to thank but yourself.
